‘Michael’ Official Teaser Release
The look into the extraordinary life of The King of Pop
From the creators of Bohemian Rhapsody and director Antoine Fuqua, the biopic of a lifetime made its teaser debut today, November 6, simply titled Michael. Starring Michael Jackson’s own nephew, Jaafar Jackson, Michael will be an emotional glimpse into the man whose career and celebrity are larger than life. With the collaboration of the family and friends who knew Michael personally, this biopic is more than a film. It is the very essence of Michael himself.
The Man in the Mirror
The Jacksons: An American Dream parts 1 and 2 premiered almost 33 years ago on November 15 and 18 of 1992. This miniseries cracked the door open on the Jackson family and Michael’s rise to global superstardom. However, over the years, the very magic that was captured in An American Dream that made the rags-to-riches story so beautiful was never captured again, as studios appeared to only want to make a mockery of Michael’s lifestyle and his legacy.
This time, the narrative has changed. Coming from those who knew him best, knew him intimately, Jaafar and the Jackson family will tell his story the way he would have loved to be remembered. Depicted from his youth to some of the biggest moments in Pop culture history, the teaser is an emotional gut punch as we watch Jaafar disappear into the very essence of his uncle—Jermaine stating in an interview
“he wasn’t just playing Michael, he became Michael. We watched him with tears rolling down our faces.”
As Jaafar is shown donning some of Michael’s most iconic looks, we travel back in time into the life of a man who simply wanted to share his gifts to heal the world.
“Don’t You Black or White Me”
Michael will focus on his illustrious career from his humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana as a member of The Jackson 5 to his groundbreaking (and still chart topping) work as a solo artist. It will also depict both his triumphs and his struggles along the way—the challenges that come with a lost childhood and the sacrifices made in order to be the best of all time. An additional highlight of the film that was only marginally captured in the 2009 documentary and musical, This Is It, is getting to see Michael’s artistic process, told from those who watched him create magic from booth to stage.
Michael’s career was not without its challenges and Michael will not shy away from the controversies that shadowed his career later in life—legal and child sex abuse allegations. The film does not aim to focus just on the successes, but aims to portray a full and extensive picture of a complicated man. From childhood to superstardom, from fame to public shame, from controversy to legacy, Michael will cover it all. The best part: Jaafar Jackson gets a chance to honor his uncle in an unbelievable and unimaginable way, allowing us the privilege to continue to bask in the spirit and legacy that is Michael Jackson.
Michael premieres in theaters and IMAX April 24, 2026.
