'Man on Fire' Netflix Teaser: John Creasy Returns
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes on the legendary role in a new series adaptation about vengeance and redemption
John Creasy is back on the screen as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Wonder Man) steps into a role that was previously portrayed by Denzel Washington more than 20 years ago, in a 7-episode series adaption of Man on Fire that premieres April 30.
Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, the show will follow Creasy as he battles personal demons while seeking vengeance for a fallen friend. Plagued with PTSD, yet determined not to be crushed from the weight of it, Creasy must also find his path toward redemption.
From the teaser alone Yahya is captivating, his energy is arresting, and his vulnerability within this complex character is palpable. And in just 55 seconds, we see that Creasy is still not the one to play with.

From Books to Binge
According to TUDUM, the series will also star Billie Boullet (The Serpent Queen) who plays Poe Rayburn, a girl that is growing faster than she’s able to understand the world around her. And as the sole witness to a terrifying event, she will quickly learn that her only ally in this world may truly be Creasy.
Alice Braga (Queen of the South) will play Valeria Melo, a professional driver with family ties to a local gang. Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk) is tapped to guest star as Paul Rayburn, an ex-Special Forces solider who has an uncanny ability to read people, even the deepest parts they try to hide.
Scoot McNairy (Narcos: Mexico) will also be a recurring guest star as Henry Tappan—a highly intelligent, calculating, and manipulative CIA agent.
Man on Fire is written by Kyle Killen (Fear Street) and he also serves as the executive producer and showrunner. With Yahya leading the series, fans of the book and the 2004 film can expect a portrayal that highlights the layers of a flawed and haunted man.
