‘The Chosen Adventures’ Brings the Teachings of Faith in a Fun and Whimsical Way
The animated children’s spinoff of the live-action series ‘The Chosen’
The Chosen Adventures is Amazon Prime Video’s latest animated series, a spinoff to the live-action series The Chosen. This story focuses on the story of Jesus through the eyes of two 9-year old children—the series consisting of 14 11-minute episodes that take you on the journey of faith through the eyes of the innocent. Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in the live-action series, reprises his role as Jesus in the animated series. Other original cast members also appear throughout the series as young Abby (Romy Fay) and Joshua (Jude Zarzaur) question religion, faith, and discover their spiritual voices in the broad, vast world.
Abby and Joshua are best friends living in Capernaum, circa 30 CE, when they meet Jesus during the time of their lives where they question the teachings of their parents and the adults around them. They are accompanied by talking animal sidekicks, adding an innocent touch to the teachings that will reach children and adults alike through simple, basic lessons (telling the truth, working hard, and being kind). The Chosen Adventures explores themes of curiosity, empathy, and life lessons—all through the perspective of children learning and absorbing the world in all of its glory and its pain.
One of the kindest parts of the series is that the adults in their lives learn the same lessons with the children. Through the teachings from Jesus, the parental figures and adults are forced to take a step back from the stress of the world and learn to be more open and patient with their children, and themselves, while they make mistakes and new discoveries. The show ultimately aims to provide humor and spiritual guidance in a family-friendly way that brings whole families together.
The Chosen Adventures premieres Friday, October 17, on Amazon Prime Video. Check out the trailer below.
